The Roman Baths Tour

Overview

View of the Great Bath

The Roman baths were a central part of daily life in ancient Rome. They were not just a place to bathe, but also served as a center for socializing, exercising, and conducting business.

They were typically large, public structures with various rooms for different purposes, including hot and cold baths, saunas, and massage rooms.

The baths were often decorated with beautiful mosaics, sculptures, and fountains, and were considered a symbol of Roman civilization and luxury.

Ok, I have my ticket and the look-like mobile phone! (Audio guide). Although there is actually a human tour guide by the hour, so you if you’re lucky you may catch one on that hour. I was annoyed because… how was I supposed to wield an audio phone to my ear and take pictures :/.

How To Get To The Roman Baths

The Abbey Courtyard

First of all Head towards the Abbey Courtyard, also past the Pump Room, and you’ll see queues for the Roman Baths near entrance hall. The queues are then pulled in one at a time.

Admire the impressive architecture on the church while you’re waiting. Even if your holding an umbrella!
Take time to admire the domed ceilings, along with images from the four seasons.

To the left-side of the hall there is a queue for the pre-paid tickets, however I joined the standard queue to the right, because the ticket prices were located right near this queue, hence the reason to know prices prior to main desk. If your unsure the staff are friendly and happy to assist.
