9 Things You Must See In Rome

9 Things You Must See In Rome

3 days was enough time to encounter the mass majority of the city of Rome. But It doesn’t matter because you have 9 things you must see in Rome, because of this amazing Rome itinerary I have put together!

So if you’re planning to see Rome for the first time, take advantage of Vatican City and be sure to know you came to the right place!

I’ll be focusing on things you must do in Rome. Along with a step-by-step guide, or you can call it Rome itinerary. Also I’m sharing some advice to help you gain the fullest of your trip, Such as… Skipping the queues, money pacing, transfers, etc.

1. Vatican City Tour
Vatican City

Vatican City is famous for being one of the most historical, cultured and some say romantic destinations on the planet, and whether you are visiting to enjoy the excellent food or to see the sights of the city.. This is the place for you! Ok firstly, you going to need a tour.

While visiting Rome last year, I joined a walking tour along with friend, if you ask me, is the best way to discover Vatican city! If you don’t purchase your tickets online it’s ok, then you can collect them on arrival. Although this results with large number of queues.

2. The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.. A few minutes walk away from the Colosseum – take the Arc of Constantine route to get there.

Anyway Purchasing a ticket allows you to take a stroll down the lower part and appreciate the forum and embrace it. Surrounded by broken Doric heights, sends you into deep thoughts to imagine the previous reality of the empire… Now its just a ruin.

Trajan’s markets which is the first “multi-level shopping mall” in the world. You can also see the Via Biberatica, which is the most ancient Roman street in the city so they say.

This place is the centre of all Roman life. Shrines. Three temples, buildings, podiums virtually most things happened there.

It doesn’t matter which way around you visit either – the Colosseum or the Roman Forum. But I Found most people intend to visit the Colosseum first, as it’s most spoken about by the first timers. Therefore, queues are very large – avoid that!

The Colosseum and the Roman Forum have a shared ticket – no excuses! Ticket must be used on the same day.

You shouldn’t be here no more than 1 hour, time to move on.

3. The Pantheon

Just like the Egyptians.. The Romans knew how to construct a masterpiece. They say the roof of The Pantheon is known to be the biggest concrete dome still standing. The Pantheon was constructed between 118 and 125 AD, the temple then became a Catholic church. It is free to walk in, so tuck your pockets deeper!

Out in the open you will see Piazza della Rotonda – what a view!

Time is up!

4. Piazza del Campidoglio

I like this area, designed by Michelangelo. A crowded and communal place to take a break and chill. Also another piazza to Rome – The building structures circle the oval center.

Before sunset, at back side of the central building in Piazza del Campidoglio, on top of Capitoline Hill. Here is a panorama view of the Forum from above, with the Palatine Hill and also the Colosseum in sight.

5. Visit The Colosseum

Get here bright and early to sight see. Via the metro the stop brings you right to it, can’t miss it lol. You should look for ticket sellers on site and preferably a skip the line ticket! So you can get to the security line.

From the wear and tear years the 2000 year old arena still looks good as its always maintained. The Colosseum was used for gladiator battles and for animal exhibitions. The 1st tier was a podium for the senators, 2nd for the Infantry and the dead seats for the crowd. You must visit the Colosseum if you come to Rome!

Take the southeast direction from the Roman Forum, and walk towards the Colosseum. If you are really interested in exploring the inside, join a tour. The tours can be expensive and have quite a bit of a wait, But I do recommend the tour. Definitely one of the 9 Things You Must See In Rome!

6. Sights Around The Colosseum

9 Things You Must See In Rome
Right Next to the Colosseum is the Arch of Constantine, one of the biggest of Rome’s ancient triumphal arches. The arch indicates the Emperor Constantine the Great’s victory and the religion of Rome.

7. Go To Piazza Del Popolo

Make your way north to Piazza del Popolo, also check out the fabulous church of Santa Maria del Popolo. Very populated. Again another Piazza, good time relax and watch the people. The Spanish steps is yards away!

8. Sit On The Spanish Steps

9 Things You Must See In Rome Spanish steps

So we’ve seen a lot so far. The mission is nearly over. As we are now at the Spanish Steps. I Counted 136 steps. Which leads all the way up to the Trinita dei Monti, there’s a church there. I didn’t check it out while I was there, maybe you should.

Leave a comment below and tell me your review of the church.

You can sit and watch with lively people and before grabbing lasagne and take a walk down Via dei Condotti to do a little window shopping.

9. Toss A Coin In The Trevi Fountain

9 Things You Must See In Rome Trevi fountain

So not far from the Pantheon is the Trevi Fountain, highly populated day and night. This is a place where people go to chill or eat out with restaurants near by.

The Fountain stands 24 mins you can’t miss it, It’s always been an attraction, filled with countless coins.

The last of the 9 things you must see in Rome! You can’t come here without seeing the Trevi Fountain! Traditionally toss a few coins in, to ensure you’ll return to the Eternal City.. One day. Been here too long, time to go.
